Yoga for athletes is not a far-fetched concept; yoga is the union of body, mind and breath. By practising yoga one can influence and improve many aspects of one’s sports performance.
The body will be transformed by increasing strength and muscle tone and also gain elasticity and flexibility, which will help to prevent injuries. Breathing exercises help to increase the lung capacity and develop the muscles involved in "forced breathing". Those are the same muscles one uses in extreme stress or training, e.g. anaerobic threshold training.
Yoga exercises the mind in different ways. The intention of yoga is to be present in the now and put consciousness in every movement and breath. This will allow, over time, to develop better concentration skills and learn how to handle situations of stress and fatigue. In short, have more psychological tools to face hard workouts and competitions.
We offer sports specific yoga training
Sun Tri Sports offers several Yoga for Athletes camps and packages for people of all ages and levels. All camps are located in quiet places with idyllic landscapes which will favour the atmosphere of inner peace and relaxation necessary for the development as an athlete. We practice it ourselves and it WORKS!
