Sports Massage in Marbella
Sports Massage for athletes and non-athletes
Frank Jonk is a Dutch certified and experienced sports massage therapist who has been working with many athletes and non-athletes.
Sports massage is designed to help correct problems and imbalances that are caused by repetitive and strenuous physical activity or trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise enhances performance, aids recovery and prevents injury.
A sports massage is also a great preventive measure (prehab). Many of our clients are visiting us on a regular basis to treat small problems like e.g. tight calves, lower back niggles or hip imbalances in order to make sure such small problems do not turn into annoying injuries.
A sports massage doesn't only benefits athletes but is helpful for anyone who experiences pain or muscular imbalances. With sports massage, it is especially important to determine what the cause of issues is and what the personal, physical limitations are. Our treatment plans will always be adapted to each individual.
Trigger Point Theraphy
Myofascial Triggerpionts (MTrPs) are micro strokes and muscles that feel like small painful hardenings or 'knots'. Basically, a trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that can cause pain in other parts of the body. For example, a trigger point in the back may produce pain in the neck. The neck can then act like a satellite trigger point resulting in pain in the head. The trigger point therapist looks for these triggers to deactivate them. It is intended that the trigger points disappear after 1 to 3 treatments.
Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. In this type of massage for trigger point therapy, the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort.
If you work long hours all week you may need a simple relaxing massage. If you feel exhausted or tired, suffer from cramped and aching muscles, a relaxation massage might just what is needed. Working in an office chair all week can cause major tension and other issues within your lower back and legs. We all need time to relax and disconnect from daily activities. If we do not do this, then the body will protest over time in the form of cramped muscles and mental overstimulation. A massage can help with moderate pain, help with fatigue and stress can be reduced. A massage helps relax the body and mind better so that the negative spiral of stress and physical complaints can be broken. It is a gift for yourself to maintain or regain your vitality.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic drainage is a very gentle massage technique. The masseur applies special gentle touch techniques to stimulate the lymph nodes and remove fluid and waste products from your body thus reducing any swellings and adding recovery.
This treatment is soft and soothing. After a while, you will feel a slight tingling, at which something happens to the edema. The minimum duration for effective treatment is half an hour.
